Stardust is amazing.

Neil Gaiman is a wonderful man, and Stardust is a wonderful movie. The script is both beautiful and clever, the acting is extraordinary, and it is a visually stunning film. The whole experience is a pleasure. The truth is, Stardust is the best damned movie that I have seen in YEARS, and you will be doing yourself a horrible disservice if you don't see it in the theatre.

Oh this makes me happy! I know someone who saw it (movie business type person) and she didn't love it - didn't hate it either but didn't love it, so I was worried. I still haven't read the book, I'm debating waiting till after the movie, but I'm not sure.

Okay, it's been driving me crazy all day because I was so nervous about how they'd do with "my" book, and I love that I'm hearing good reviews from people whose opinion I respect. I can't wait to see the movie, but I must know... did they leave The Tree in it??

Oooo, I can't wait to see it! I'm hoping it plays at the theater it's easy for me to get to. They had Mirrormask, that's gotta be a good sign.

I cannot wait to see it! I come late to NG's fiction, I just got American Gods, and it is phenomenal. I read it and every few pages I marvel again, holy crap he is so good.

Well hell, I'll just post the same thing I posted in Kathy's LJ:

I can't wait! I can't wait! I can't wait! I can't wait! I can't wait!

Oh, and did I mention... I CAN'T WAIT!!!

Quick question: is it kid-friendly? i.e., would I be able to take my 10 year old nephew to see it? i.e., is the sex scene from the beginning of the book overtly graphic in the movie?

Sex comes into the story twice, but the act itself is implied, and isn't graphic at all. Kidwise... the movie might be a little violent -- magical attacks, all the Stormhold royal homicide, and swordfights -- but I don't think it would be a problem for older kids. In parts, the violence is somewhat comedic, and in my opinion, it isn't over the top. The movie is like.. one level higher in the violence regard than, say, the Princess Bride.

I hope that helped. =D

Ooh awesome. My daughter loves all movies dark and spooky and magical. She'll love this!

Two sex scenes? Hmmm... I don't remember a second one! *wracks brain*

And yes, that's VERY helpful. Thank you! I'm taking the kiddo to see the latest Harry Potter flick tomorrow, so if he can handle that, he can handle the magical attacks, etc. in Stardust.

Oh man. I just really really can't wait. If I could live in any book, I would choose Stardust. I have a feeling I might say the same thing about the movie!!!
