Random question of the day.

I'm in an inquisitive mood lately. I just want to get to know the people on my f-list better. =)

What comics are you reading right now? C'mon, I can't be the only hardcore comics geek here, right?

At the moment, I'm catching up on DC's Countdown and Sinestro Corps. How'z about you?

I try to keep up with A Softer World, but I don't read it as often as I should.

What's that about? I'm not familiar with it.

- Alan Moore's line of Swamp Thing.
- Umbrella Academy
- Hellblazer

My boyfriend keeps trying to get me to read Punisher (the Max line, I think), but I keep telling him to get bent.

:D

Brian's reading the Ennis Punisher (that's the Max line, right?). I haven't started it yet. Bry's got a big ol' hard on for all things Garth Ennis.

Dangerous Habits was one of the best storylines ever, IMO. =)

Love Alan Moore. Love Swamp Thing.

I'm much more of a novel girl, but Gaiman's Sandman got me into comics a bit. So far the only ones I'm really keeping up with are the Buffy & Angel ones that Whedon is putting out...

I need recs. =(

I've been wanting to dip back into comics something fierce but it's so hard to know where to start. My dad is hardcore into old-school DC and Marvel and some of them are so old and rare that he used to make me read them with gloves on after pulling them from his vault and unsheathing them. But yeah, it's been a while aside from Sandman and a handful of graphic novels from Nathan's shelves.

I don't really read comics, as a rule. But I did just finish reading The Umbrella Academy, which I'd had stacked up in a corner, waiting for some time to read them all.

Hmm, I'm not very big on American comics. It's not so common in Swiss culture, we're very influenced by the Franco-Belgian "Bandes Dessinées". I grew up with Tintin and the Smurfs (Les Schtroumpfs) and still go back to my old Tintins once in a while and I love "Le Petit Spirou".

I also had a huge manga phase, the one that most obsessed me was released as "Knights of the Zodiac" in the US, and I also read some others, Sailor Moon, YuYu Hakusho... mostly forgotten by now.

The closest I've come to reading comics is that I religiously read the "Heroes" graphic novels on the NBC website every week. But that's mostly fangeekery, I'll take any crumb of backstory/extra info I can get. ;)

I haven't read comics since we unearthed a very sizable stack of old and obscure ones in my grandfather's stuff after he died. I wonder if my parents still have those.

I think the last graphic novel I read was Maus.

I'm rereading old X-Men TPBs (like Phoenix Saga and God Loves...), before Chris Claremont tried to ret-con himself :/

I'm reading the Umbrella Academy. Or rather, trying to figure out where I can buy the second half of the series around here. Stupid northeastern Oklahoma.

The Invisibles was the only thing I ever was able to keep up with from DC for some reason.

Have you checked out the Lost Girls set yet?
You NEEEEED this if you haven't already.

I'm in the middle of a few things. Translating some of Bilal's L'Immortel (sp?) stuff from French without the net as a way of forcing me to conjugate french verbs and figure this damn french-english dictionary out.

Two weekends I went to OmegaCon and completed a sequential part of my Strangers in Paradise collection, which of course meant going through the whole thing aaaaaalll over again.

Mainly I'm still piecing through my Evil Eye collection. I think I never realised just how creepy some of my stuff was.

Speaking of DC... did you here that shit about they might kill off Batman?

no comics except doonesbury and a love for nicole hollander-but srsly-today on npr there was a story on comics from the 1950's and apparently there were senate investigations about comics being too bloody and gory! HUH? ok, that WAS the 50's but still.
