I don't like olives.

I don't like olives, but I keep eating them. Not only am I eating them, but I get all excited about the damned olive bars at Gelsons and Whole Foods. Evidently, my offspring has a thing for olives. This is baffling. I cannot imagine what nutritional virtues olives would have that would make me so enthusiastic about them suddenly.

Salts, healthy-ish fats.

That's my guess anyway, knowing the times when I've craved olives. :)

Banana peppers and those pickled/hot cauliflower things were my kick. I'm guessing sodium? idk.

Iron. Olives are high in iron. Also monounsaturated fats, Vitamin E, and fiber. But I'm willing to be it's the iron.

And I LOVE olives. I have to stay away from the olive bars or I'll be rolling away. XD

Heh!

I'm vegetarian, yet at about 2am, when I was six or seven weeks pregnant, I had the most INTENSE craving for... lobster, of all things. And before I was vego, I couldn't stand seafood, and have never had any desire to eat the stuff.

I've been a veg for... omg... almost 17 years? -- and at about my 4th week pregnant, I almost leapt across a table at an Indian restaurant to steal someone's steak off of their plate. It was a completely derranged moment.

Y'know bub will probably end up hating olives too?

Mum ate her weight in peaches with me & I hate the bloody things. My Nonna ate an entire 7 pound watermelon when pregnant with my Unlce & he can't even look at the things.

As an Italian, a World without Olives is scary & unfamiliar, but I guess it'd be like me suddenly craving roast pork. I despise roast pork...

oddness.

HAHAHHAHAHAHAHA!!!

I love olive oil, but I'm not a fan of olives. I don't hate them.. I usually just don't think much of them.

But I do think its funny when kids put them on their fingers at holidays. XD

I would also guess it has to do with the salt.

My nephew Gryphon was crazy about olives when he was a toddler, so sometimes the little ones really do like'em. Even once they're on the outside. :-)

Maybe the strength of the flavor? My cravings were either completely bland (ice, pb toast) or very sharp/intense tasting (olives, black licorice, sharp cheese)...

Oh, same here. Stuff like plain boiled noodles (ew!), or the spiciest shit I can find. I ate huevos rancheros almost every day for the first four and a half months.

Pregnancy is hella weid.
