I was suddenly overwhelmed with a desire to see Egypt that was so strong, it felt like my heart would break.

What an odd mood swing.

Very. Have you been there before or is it calling you for the first time?

I am, fortunately or not so, all too familiar with that feeling. Not with any connection to Egypt, though---the geographical locations with the ability to yank on invisible fishhooks implanted somewhere in my own heart all lie considerably North. For my own part, this has been going on so long that I've decided to simply embrace it, and am moving towards encorporating these places into my life. Has this ever happened to you before, though?

This may sound odd and random, but especially since you said that it was a desire to see Egypt, and if you haven't had such an incident before, it may be that someone who is, was, or will be very important in your lives was seeing it at that very moment, and you were simply more "tuned in" to them than usual. Some part of you recognizes their importance and yearns to be where they are, right now.

If that sounds wrong to you, though, it probably is. I love how things work that way so often. Anyway, if that is the case, perhaps you should check into the latest Egypt-related postings on the travel websites, and keep your eyes and ears out both for other opportunities to go and for significant Egypt-related people/items/themes/etc. (We could even start a "Send Beth to Egypt" Fund on the forums to help you get there! :Þ )

Then again, I may just be crazy! lol

Hi, a BPAL fan here...user "tart" on the forums.

Have you ever read any of the Griffin & Sabine books by Nick Bantock? I think you'd rather enjoy them.
