Before I leave for Vegas (I'm leaving my computer at home), I kinda wanna close the door on the Evan Dorkin incident. Cross-posting this, in part, from a post I made on the forum.

I guess I just don’t see what there was to rant about, is all. We aren’t some faceless corporate conglomerate that made some move to deliberately market to an industry that we are neither a part of, nor understand. I don’t think you *can* get more comic fangirl / fanboy than we are at BPAL. Fer the love of Pete, we’re all but closed during Comic Con! Diamond saw an opportunity to expand product awareness, which can only benefit the CBLDF. It’s a little baffling to me that a charitable venture instigated by a member of the industry and a company that is sympathetic to the industry would warrant a flame. I just think that the angst was a little misplaced, but if that’s how Evan feels, that’s how he feels. I don’t throw stones at glass houses, and I can’t say I’ve never been snarky about something.

With regards to Diamond… Personally, I love going through Previews, but I have a thing for collectibles and such. I’m a Consumer. Plus, they were really nice to us, and nice scores big points.

Neil thought it was funny, I was perplexed, and Evan vented his spleen. All is well. ;) Like I said before, I'm a fan of Evan's. Hopefully this incident brought more awareness to the work that the CBLDF does. If that’s the case, all the better, I guess.

Getting on a plane now. =)

Travel safe...and don't overheat!

I have found that Ice Queen to be an amazing coolant.

Whoever said bad boyfriend oughta have his own blend? Was right. Dorkin: rancid sweat, spoiled milk, bread mold, and the stink of jealousy.

Of course, you might make yourself sick. We can't have that.

He claims the defense of a comedian, and yet (I have not read anything else by him) this latest post is ALL RANT and NO HUMOR. It's just mocking. And very much the pot-calling-the-kettle-black. I've been beginning to write comments on his LJ and then not posting any of them but two. The comments of his defenders are comic book fans arguing the ridiculousness of collecting perfume. Really, Mr.-I-cashed-out-my-retirement-fund-to-purchase -a-limited-edition-autographed-comic-book?

Why can't fans respect fans of other persuasions? I learned my lesson. I used to make fun of Trekkies and people who dressed up at conventions, now I am an INSANELY-DEVOTED Browncoat who takes any and every opportunity to "play dress-up". I apologized to friends I had teased. I fess up about my past shortcomings. I don't think I ever flamed anyone, but, ya know. At any rate, that post by that guy ruffled my feathers. It just seemed unnecessary and defamatory, but doubtless, long-term it will just bring more sales to BPAL, so I guess it's not as bad as it seems.
