Just thinkin' out loud.

Without a 60-seat majority backing him, how much change can Obama really achieve?

I'm not being cynical. Just thinking about the Senate races.

Depends on how bitter the Republican senators are.

If nothing else, I believe Obama could do a hell of a lot for us in the way of foreign relations.

And frankly, that's one of the things we need most at the moment. I'm tired of having to watch other Americans apologize for being Americans when they're abroad. I've been living in the UK for 3 years now, and it's all well and good if you're a well-traveled liberal like me and they've gotten to know you, but if you're a random tourist or a student fresh off the plane to start a university program? You have to prove yourself.

Agreed to the fullest, it's ridiculous.

Not to mention the fact that putting Palin into office would be almost WORSE than the rap we've gotten from Bush. Horrible.

Obama voted for FISA and to renew the patriot act. He doesn't have a clear plan on Iraq, Iran, Afghanistan, or Pakistan. I understand that though he's not really against gay marriage, he's certainly not for it, either.

I'm sure his battle won't be too difficult. In fact, he might be able to win congress over with his seemingly thoughtful pauses too.
