RHPS. I saw one of the most gruesome scenes in Phantom of the Paradise when I was seven years old, in a motel room in Little Rock, AR. It made quite the bad impression on me that not even a lovely MST-style viewing with friends could erase twenty years later.

In contrast, RHPS has nothing but fun memories associated with it.

Some of the reasons why Phantom of the Paradise is superior to
Rocky Horror Picture Show.

Oscar nominated
Best Music, Scoring Original Song Score and/or Adaptation
Paul Williams
George Aliceson Tipton

Beef’s performance is so great….he has all the good lines like
“Swan, this was scored for a chick. I'm not doing it in drag.”
“Man, you better get yourself a castrato for this, 'cause it's a little out of my range.”
And my favorite…
”I know drug real from real real.”

Jessica Harper was so beautiful that I drooled when I first watched it.
I had a button of her that I wore all the time in the 70’s

Directed by De Palma does Scarface and Carrie ring a bell?

Based on Faust

Death Records logo is very cool

Paul Williams !!!

The best thing about RHPS is it had a hot Libra in it.
Tim Curry is pretty hot too.

RHPS FTW! Phantom is good, but there's really no comparison.

Oh, I must be the only one to say Phantom of the Paradise!

Am I too late to the party?
PLEASE! Phantom of the Paradise hands down!! NO contest!!
How can you possibly pass up
1. Paul Williams
2. BEEF!!
3. The Juicy Fruits!!

And to add to your husband's reply:
Swan: An asassination live on television coast to coast - that's entertainment.
Beef: Look, Philbin, I am a professional. I have been in this business a long time. Now if I don't want to do a show, it's not because I got stage fright. It's because some creature from beyond doesn't want me to do the show. Now gangway! HILARIOUS!

I'm a RHPS fan and I can sing along to the soundtracks to both movies, but Phantom is unique in it's awesomeness. In fact, I think I might have to watch it tomorrow. Is it a bit too over-the-top for an 8 and 12 year old?

RHPS hands down

there is no contest because i love them both. and the concepts aren't even remotely similar- just two freaky awesome modern musicals.

but i have to say that ever since seeing phantom i've been pining for steel teeth.

PS> i love Endora. she always reminded me of my grandma.

RHPS for me, all the way!!
Nov. 1st, 2008 05:56 pm (UTC)
RHPS, no doubt about it!
Nov. 1st, 2008 05:59 pm (UTC)
Rocky Horror Picture Show, definitely.

No question, Phantom of the Paradise.

(Pretty sure I know which one of you I sided with, lol.)

Now that people have made their choices... is there a reason for your answer?

Beth just keeps saying..."but its Tim Curry" and as sexy as he is in fishnets, there must be more to it than that.
